still can't make sense of Internal Affair
Departed and betrayed, Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" does not live up to its model?
The plot, in its glorious improbability, acts as a guarantor for the genre itself. The plot is nothing but the means to an end, and the end is the production of a minutely subtle mechanism of suspense. But while its starting point is the same, "The Departed" seeks more than just a mechanism. ultimately the whole film seems like one big feature-length cliché
(I have not seen Depart,) but wasn't it what the hk version is about? and failure of the Depart, if it is so, already there in the "Infernal Affaris"?
